Thank you to the lovely Benowitz-Fredricks for recommending a trip to the oldest pub in Edinburgh! We started the TRECK at about 11:30 around the hollyrood park to the little town that the Sheeps Heid resides. When we walked in, ready for a meal of mac'an cheese, only to find out they were renovating the entire in starting the next day. So we grabbed a pint (on an empty stomach mind you) and sat at one of the cute little tables. Then I saw in the corner of my eye, MONOPOLY (edinburgh edition!) so obviously we played that for a few hours. (CHAMPION!!!) woohoooo Great little gem, can wait until it is renovated and go back and play again!

Look forward to muchoo more about this weekend, it was a doozy (in a great way)!

PUB GOLF

I found out last night why I love the Scots.... Pub Golf. This is practially a national sport here!

RULES:

-You MUST be in golf attire

-Your leader sets up a "course" of 9 holes (pubs)

-Each individual has a score card saying the list of pubs and the drink you purchase when you get there

-The score card also says how many sips are par (ie. our first drink was a pint of Guiness and the "par" was five, but don't worry you lovely daughter, sister, whatever i am to you drank it in 2!)

-Then you record your score (yes that means that i got 3 under par)

-The lowest score wins!

"Yes, I'm an elkoholic" is a familiar enough problem,- you have one too many drinks and the next thing you know, you’re stuck in an apple tree. This elk had an undignified end to its all-day session, after getting sizzled on fermenting fruit. In the search of one last fix, it tried to clamber up the branches but got tangled in them. It was kicking ferociously when Per Johansson found it, having heard it bellowing in the dark as the rain poured down. ‘I thought at first it was someone having a laugh, then I went over to take a look and spotted an elk stuck in an apple tree, with only one leg left on the ground.” Police and a hunter were called but the anima was not freed until the fire brigade arrived. Rescuers managed to bend the tree until the elk could slide out and collapse in a drunken heap, to sleep it off. Earlier the animal had been seen weaving its way though the town already ‘under the influence.’ Drunk elks are a common menace in the region, especially in the autumn, when apples fall and ferment on the ground. ‘We often see elk stuffing their faces with apples around here but this is the firs time we have found one in a tree!’
